Atul Trading and Hathi Cement in Savli: A Legacy of Trust
Parikh Family And Atul Trading Are Household Names In Savli
For nearly a century, the Parikh family has been a cornerstone of Savli. Their business, Atul Trading, is a familiar name to every resident. Ratilal Hargovinddas Parikh company has served the community’s construction needs for three generations, offering everything from agricultural implements to steel. This deep-rooted presence laid the foundation for an exceptional partnership between Atul Trading and Hathi Cement, a synergy as strong as the one depicted in the famous slogan – “Favicol Ka Jod” (The bond of Favicol).
Ashwinbhai Parikh took the reins of the family business from his father Ratilalbhai’s son. He established Atul Trading Company, named after his nephew Atulbhai. Atulbhai played a pivotal role in forging a relationship with Saurashtra Cement right from the start. Further solidifying their commitment to the family legacy, Gunjanbhai, Ashwinbhai’s son, joined the venture in 1992. Today, the two cousins lead Atul Trading together, their focus unwavering: to be the premier supplier of Hathi Cement in the region.
This unwavering commitment wasn’t always set in stone. Initially, Atul Trading offered a variety of cement brands to provide customers with choices. However, over time, a relationship built on mutual trust and a dedication to quality blossomed. For the past 15 years, Atul Trading has focused exclusively on Hathi Cement, a testament to the brand’s unwavering excellence. This loyalty has yielded significant benefits for both parties. Atul Trading, which once sold only 10 tonnes of cement, now flourishes, distributing around 300-400 tonnes within a 10 km radius of Savli. Their success can be attributed not only to Hathi Cement’s quality product but also to their unwavering commitment to exceptional customer service.
A Reputation Built on Trust and Service
The Parikh family’s legacy in Savli spans nearly nine decades. Their company, established by Ratilal Parikh, is a household name throughout the region. From bustling marketplaces to the surrounding taluka, the Parikh name is synonymous with quality and reliability. This deep-rooted trust has played a significant role in Atul Trading’s success with Hathi Cement.
Understanding Customer Needs, Building Strong Relationships
The close relationships Atul Trading cultivates with local customers are invaluable. Their familiarity with the community allows them to anticipate and fulfill specific needs. Gunjanbhai emphasizes that both Atul Trading and Hathi Cement share a commitment to quality, fair pricing, and prompt service. This synergy fosters a strong bond with both dealers and customers alike.
Reliable Partnership, Unwavering Support
Despite Saurashtra Cement’s plant being located 350 kilometers away, Atul Trading has never faced major supply issues. This is an example of exceptional partnership between the two companies. From sales representatives to top management, everyone at Saurashtra Cement is readily available to address any concerns, ensuring a smooth operation. This commitment is further exemplified by their positive response to Gunjanbhai’s request for the Snowcem Paint dealership after Snowcem’s acquisition by Saurashtra Cement.
A Commitment to Quality and Service
Customers place their trust in the Parikh family businesses, confident that Atul Trading offers only high-quality products at fair prices. They have built strong relationships with masons, engineers, and officials across various companies. Atul Trading’s unwavering commitment to exceptional service ensures they cater to the needs of everyone in the community.
A Family Legacy of Dedication and Expertise
Gunjanbhai highlights another key factor in Atul Trading’s success – the legacy of his father, Ashwinbhai Parikh. Ashwinbhai, a man of many talents, not only held a Master’s degree in Mathematics but also possessed a passion for education. He generously shared his knowledge by tutoring students struggling with math after work hours. His dedication to the community extended beyond the classroom. He played a pivotal role in establishing Gujarat’s first homeopathic college in Savli and served selflessly as president of the Savli Taluka Kelawani Mandal for an impressive 35 years. Even after retiring from both the shop and the educational institution, he continued to lend his expertise to educational causes in Savli. Like his father, Ratilal Parikh, Ashwinbhai’s contributions are widely recognized throughout the taluka.
This dedication to service is a family tradition. Gunjanbhai reveals that his cousin, Atulbhai, son of his aunt Jashodaben, exemplifies this commitment. Ashwinbhai’s foresight led to the establishment of Atul Trading in 1985, coinciding with the introduction of VAT. Atulbhai, who had already lost his father Dahyalalbhai Sheth, readily took the reins of the new company, securing the Hathi Cement dealership from day one. In 1992, Gunjanbhai joined the venture, and together they have continued to expand the business.
Building a Strong Future for the Next Generation
The future of Atul Trading looks bright. Atulbhai’s sons, Deep and Preet, are well-educated and established in their respective fields of electrical and civil engineering. Deep’s wife, Dhruvi, is also a successful professional in the finance sector. Gunjanbhai’s family reflects a similar commitment to education. His son, Tanuj, a mechanical engineer, wants to pursue an MBA from a prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM). His daughter, Manini, demonstrates both artistic talent and academic focus, having recently taken her architecture entrance exam and achieving a Trinity Certificate in piano playing.
Despite their family’s move to Vadodara for better educational opportunities, their bond with Savli remains strong. Gunjanbhai’s wife, Sapnaben, a strong supporter of the business, understands the importance of the relationship with Saurashtra Cement. Her unwavering support gives strength to Gunjanbhai to make the daily commute, traveling 60 kilometers each way to continue their family’s legacy in Savli.
